π About Logan
Logan sits at the heart of Cache Valley in northern Utah, the seat of Cache County and home to Utah State University. For most first-time applicants, families and travelers who need to submit a passport application in person, two designated acceptance facilities serve the city: the downtown Logan Main Post Office and the USU Card Office on campus. Both witness your signature, verify your identity and seal your DS-11 documents to send to the State Department.
The two offices split the map neatly. The Logan Main Post Office on West 200 North is the natural choice if you live west of Main Street or are running errands downtown, while the university's Card Office is a short drive east and handy for students, faculty and anyone already near campus. Both take applicants by appointment; picking the one nearest you saves a cross-town trip.
Neither Logan office issues a passport on the spot, and no same-day service exists nearby. Cache County has no regional passport agency of its own, and Utah as a whole still lacks an operating agency. For genuinely urgent, life-or-death travel, the nearest public agency is the Colorado Passport Agency in Centennial, roughly a six-hour drive southeast; everyone else should apply locally and let the routine or expedited mail process run its course.
Fees, the full list of what to bring and current processing times are the same statewide and are laid out on our Utah passport page, so review that before you book either Logan appointment.
π‘ Good to know
Both Logan acceptance offices work by appointment, so book before you arrive rather than walking in. Bring an unsigned DS-11, proof of citizenship and a photo ID, and expect to pay the State Department fee plus a separate acceptance fee. If you also need a passport photo, both the Logan offices can take one on site. For fees and processing times, which are identical across the state, see the Utah page.
