Passport Acceptance Offices in Columbus, Georgia

Columbus, Georgia's third-largest city and home to Fort Moore, gives travelers three convenient places to start a passport application, all within the consolidated Columbus-Muscogee city-county. Which one fits you depends mostly on geography and how you like to schedule.

If you live or work on the east side near Cross Country Plaza, the Columbus Main Post Office on Milgen Road is the closest by-appointment counter. Downtown workers and RiverWalk-area families tend to prefer the Uptown station on 12th Street. Anyone who would rather walk in without booking ahead can use the Muscogee County Clerk of Superior & State Courts inside the Government Center Tower, which also takes passport photos on site.

First-time applicants, children under 16, and anyone who can't renew by mail all need to appear in person at one of these acceptance facilities. There is no full passport agency in Columbus; the nearest one is the Atlanta Passport Agency, roughly 85 miles up I-185 and I-85, about an hour and a half by car, and it serves urgent same-week travel by appointment only.
