Skagit County Clerk

The Skagit County Clerk's Office accepts passport applications from the first floor of the County Courthouse at 205 West Kincaid Street in Mount Vernon. As an approved acceptance facility, the Clerk handles first-time adult applications, minor applications, and cases where a passport was lost or stolen, then routes the paperwork to a federal processing center.

Because demand across the Skagit Valley has been heavy, the Clerk's office now requires an appointment for passport service and asks applicants to schedule online in advance. The office cannot process renewals in person, though renewal-by-mail forms are available to pick up. Payment for the acceptance fee can be made by cash, check, money order, or debit card, so plan for two separate charges when you arrive.

Applicants who prefer a postal counter can instead visit the USPS branch in Mount Vernon, and our Washington passport directory lists other nearby acceptance sites if the courthouse calendar is full.
