📖 About this office
The Huntsville Post Office on State Highway 30, just west of the Interstate 45 interchange, is the busiest passport counter in Walker County and the one most local families reach for when a trip is on the horizon. It sits on the commercial edge of town near the Sam Houston Statue turnoff, with plenty of parking for anyone arriving straight from work or the university.
Clerks here handle first-time adult applications, applications for children and minors, and they accept the paperwork for renewals that cannot be mailed. Because it doubles as a general retail post office, you can pick up your passport photo and drop your completed Form DS-11 in the same visit.
Passport interviews at this branch are handled by appointment through the USPS scheduler, so book a slot before you drive over rather than turning up cold. For a rundown of the other option in town, see our Huntsville passport guide.
💡 Good to know
Bring your completed Form DS-11 unsigned — the acceptance agent must watch you sign it — along with proof of citizenship, a photo ID and a photocopy of that ID. A child under 16 needs both parents present or the correct consent form. If this branch is fully booked, the Downtown Finance Unit a few minutes away also takes applications, and you can compare both on our Huntsville page.
