📖 About this office
The McAlester Main Post Office on East Washington Avenue is the busiest passport acceptance point in downtown McAlester, sitting just a short walk from the Pittsburg County Courthouse. Staff here review your DS-11 application, witness your signature, and seal your citizenship documents before forwarding the packet to the State Department for printing.
Because acceptance is handled by appointment through the USPS scheduler rather than a walk-up counter, it pays to book a slot before you arrive. Bring your completed form, proof of citizenship, a photo ID, and a check for the government fees; the branch can also take your passport photo on site so you do not have to hunt for one elsewhere.
If you would rather split your errands, the county courthouse a couple of blocks west also accepts applications. You can compare both options on our McAlester passport page or browse other towns across the state from the Oklahoma passport directory.
💡 Good to know
Appointments at this branch fill quickly around spring break and early summer, so reserve well ahead if you are traveling in peak season. First-time applicants and children must appear in person. For a second nearby option, the Pittsburg County Court Clerk also seals applications.
