📖 About this office
The Main Library at 800 Vine Street is the flagship of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library, and it is one of only four branches in the system where you can apply for a passport. Its downtown block puts it within walking distance of Fountain Square, the courthouse, and the county offices, making it a natural stop if you are already handling paperwork in the city center.
A trained library staff member serves as the acceptance agent, reviewing your DS-11, verifying your identity, and witnessing your signature. Appointments are required and each application is given roughly half an hour, so first-time applicants and families with children tend to prefer the unhurried, quiet setting the library offers.
One practical note: the Main Library does not shoot passport photos, so arrive with your own. See the full lineup of Cincinnati counters on our local passport page.
💡 Good to know
Payment comes in two parts: the passport fee goes to the U.S. Department of State by check or money order, and the library's execution fee can be paid by card, check, money order, or cash. Photos are not taken here, so bring a compliant 2x2 image. If the Main Library's calendar is tight, the county clerk's downtown counter a few blocks away accepts walk-ins — both are on our Cincinnati page.
