📖 About this office
New Mexico State University runs a passport acceptance facility that is open to the general public, not only to students and staff. It now operates out of the Education Service Building (Room 008) on East University Avenue on the NMSU campus, and it's a convenient alternative for families in the University-area neighborhoods and anyone who finds campus parking easier than downtown. Trained agents accept DS-11 first-time and child applications by appointment, review your citizenship and identity documents, and forward the packet to the State Department.
The campus office also offers walk-in passport photos during posted hours, which pairs well if you're bringing children who need fresh photos. As with every acceptance point, it can't print a passport on demand — for turnaround times and the document checklist, lean on our New Mexico passport overview. If the campus timing doesn't work, the downtown branch is listed alongside it on the Las Cruces page.
💡 Good to know
Applications are handled by appointment, which you can book through the university's passport office site; passport photos are available on a walk-in basis during posted midday hours. Campus parking rules apply, so check visitor parking before you arrive. Fees and what to bring don't change across the state, so rather than repeat them here we point you to our New Mexico state guide.
