📖 About this office
The Indianapolis Main Post Office sits downtown at 125 W. South St., a short walk from Lucas Oil Stadium and the southern edge of the Mile Square. It is the busiest passport acceptance window in Marion County, and its central Wholesale District address makes it the natural pick for commuters, students at nearby IUPUI, and anyone already downtown for work or a Colts game.
Staff here accept first-time adult applications, applications for children under 16, and the paperwork side of certain renewals that cannot be mailed. Because it is the flagship city office, appointment slots fill quickly; book well ahead through the USPS scheduler rather than dropping in.
If a downtown time slot is scarce, the north-side and south-side branches listed on our Indianapolis passport page are worth checking, and the wider Indiana passport guide maps out every acceptance office across the state.
💡 Good to know
Parking downtown is metered, so allow extra time before your appointment. Bring your completed DS-11, proof of citizenship, a valid photo ID plus a photocopy, and your fees ready. For alternatives on the north or south side, see the other offices on our Indianapolis page.
