📖 About this office
The Fayetteville Public Library, at 401 W. Mountain Street a few blocks off the downtown square, is one of the most modern civic buildings in Northwest Arkansas and a convenient alternative to a post-office counter for passport applicants. Families already visiting for story time or study space can handle a passport errand in the same trip.
The library serves as a designated passport acceptance agent: staff review your application, witness your signature, confirm your proof of citizenship and seal the packet for mailing to the State Department. It is a common choice for first-time adult applicants and for parents applying on behalf of children, since minors must appear in person. Renewals that qualify to be mailed do not need an acceptance agent at all.
Passport service at the library runs on scheduled appointments, so call ahead to reserve a time and to ask whether photos are taken on the day of your visit. If the library calendar is full, the Fayetteville Main Post Office is a short drive away, and you can review every option statewide on our Arkansas passport page.
💡 Good to know
The library charges the standard federal acceptance fee to seal a new or replacement application; qualifying renewals that go by mail avoid that fee. Bring a certified birth certificate or naturalization certificate, a photo ID plus a photocopy, and each child applicant in person. Prefer USPS instead? The Fayetteville Main Post Office also accepts applications, and both routes are explained on our Arkansas passport guide.
