📖 About this office
The Anchorage Main Post Office on Postmark Drive is the city's flagship postal facility, tucked near Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport where much of the state's mail is sorted and moved. For passport applicants that scale is an advantage: as the busiest acceptance point in the region, it processes DS-11 applications for travelers from across Southcentral Alaska who route through the airport area. Agents check your documents, witness your signature, and forward the sealed application by mail — the same route your finished passport will take on its way back to you.
💡 Good to know
Because it is the busiest office in the area, booking ahead through the USPS scheduler is essential — do not count on walking in. Given how far Alaska sits from the nearest agency, ask the agent about expedited service and faster return shipping when you apply. Other Anchorage acceptance offices can serve as a backup if this one is fully booked.
