DeKalb County Clerk

The DeKalb County Clerk's office runs the county's passport acceptance service from inside the historic DeKalb County Courthouse at 100 S Main St, right on Auburn's downtown square. It is the more full-service of the town's two options: staff witness your signature, seal a new or replacement application, and can take your passport photo on the spot, so first-time applicants and parents applying for children can often finish everything in a single visit. No appointment is required during regular business hours.

Because the clerk handles court and records business as well, arriving earlier in the day usually means shorter waits. Remember that this office does not print passports; it verifies your identity and mails the application to a State Department center. Pull the full fee schedule and document checklist from the Indiana passport page, then use the Auburn overview to size it up against the post office nearby.

The courthouse sits on the downtown square with free street parking close by. Only new applications need to be sealed by an acceptance agent; renewals can be mailed directly. If the counter is busy with court business, the Auburn Post Office is a two-block walk away.
