Woodbourne Library

Woodbourne Library, on Far Hills Avenue in northern Centerville, is one of the two branches of the Washington-Centerville Public Library district and accepts passport applications by appointment. A key point for 2026: the State Department order that stopped passport service at roughly 1,400 nonprofit libraries this February does not apply here. The Washington-Centerville Public Library is a government-funded school-district library — a political subdivision, not a 501(c)(3) — so it remains an eligible acceptance facility and continues to book appointments.

With the Centerville Library branch on West Spring Valley Road closed for renovation, Woodbourne currently carries the library district's passport appointments. It's a calm, unhurried alternative to a busy government counter, well suited to first-time applicants and families processing children's passports who'd rather sit down with a dedicated agent. Woodbourne does not take passport photos, so pair the visit with a photo elsewhere — or use the county's Centerville Auto Title office, which shoots photos on site.
