📖 About this office
The Ward County Recorder's Office, inside the courthouse at 225 3rd St SE in downtown Minot, is one of two passport acceptance offices in the city. It accepts first-time adult and child applications on Form DS-11, which you must sign in person in front of the clerk. Because it sits in the county government complex, it's an easy stop if you're already handling vital records, deeds, or other recorder business.
Note that this office cannot process adult renewals on Form DS-82 — those are mailed directly to the State Department. Payment for the passport execution fee here is by check or money order only; no cash, credit, or debit is accepted, so come prepared. Fees and the document checklist are posted on the North Dakota passport guide .
💡 Good to know
The office is open Monday through Friday, but for passports plan to arrive no later than 4 p.m. so there's time to complete the paperwork. It does not take passport photos on site, so have yours ready — the nearby Minot Post Office can shoot one if you still need it.
