📖 About this office
The Douglas County Clerk and Recorder runs one of the busiest passport acceptance desks in the south metro from its office at 301 Wilcox Street, directly across from the county courthouse in the heart of Castle Rock. Alongside recording deeds, issuing marriage licenses, and handling motor vehicle work, the clerk's staff are trained acceptance agents who process passport applications for residents across Douglas County.
This is a solid choice for applicants who prefer a government service counter with weekday daytime hours and free parking in the lot behind the building, reached from Third Street. Bring a completed but unsigned DS-11, your certified birth certificate or naturalization papers, and a photocopy of your ID; the agent witnesses your signature and forwards the sealed application to the State Department.
Note that the clerk's office does not typically shoot passport photos on site, so plan to have your 2x2 photo taken beforehand. First-time adult applicants and parents filing for minor children both use this office regularly.
💡 Good to know
Photos are generally not taken here, so arrive with your 2x2 photo ready. If a county counter isn't convenient, the nearby Castle Rock Post Office also accepts applications and can take your photo. See both options side by side on our Castle Rock guide.
