📖 About this office
The Kankakee County Clerk's office handles passport applications from the county administration building at 189 E. Court Street, in the heart of downtown Kankakee. As a designated acceptance facility, staff here review your paperwork, witness your signature, and forward first-time adult and child applications to the U.S. Department of State on your behalf.
Because the clerk's office also issues certified birth records, it is a practical stop if you still need the birth certificate that backs your passport application. Appointments are required, so call (815) 937-2990 before you go, and remember that the $35 execution fee is paid to the county while the passport fee itself goes to the State Department.
Passport photos are taken on site for $12, which spares you a second errand. If this location does not fit your schedule, the nearby Kankakee post office is another accepting agent within the same downtown blocks.
💡 Good to know
Applications are accepted by appointment only, so phone ahead to reserve a slot. Bring a certified birth certificate showing your parents' names, a valid photo ID such as a driver's license, and separate payments: a check or money order for the State Department and the $35 county execution fee. For a rundown of the other accepting agent in town, see our Kankakee passport page.
