📖 About this office
The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court runs the busiest passport counter in St. Augustine, tucked inside the Public Service Center at 4040 Lewis Speedway just off US-1 on the north side of town. As a designated acceptance agent, the Clerk's staff review Form DS-11 for first-time applicants, witness your signature, seal the packet, and forward everything to the U.S. Department of State.
What sets this office apart locally is that its main St. Augustine counter takes walk-ins during regular weekday hours, so travelers who missed the appointment window elsewhere often end up here. Photos are handled on-site for a small fee, which spares you a second stop. Two satellite annexes in St. Johns and Ponte Vedra Beach handle overflow by appointment.
Because St. Johns County draws a steady stream of cruise passengers and international vacationers out of nearby Jacksonville, this counter can fill up around school breaks. Arriving early in the day is the surest way to be seen quickly.
💡 Good to know
The Clerk's office collects the $35 acceptance fee per applicant and the State Department fees are paid separately by check or money order. Adult renewals that qualify to be mailed do not need an in-person visit here. If this counter is busy, compare it with the appointment-based USPS window on our St. Augustine passport page, or scan other Florida acceptance offices before you drive over.
