The Buffalo Main Post Office at 1200 William Street is the primary USPS distribution and retail hub for the Buffalo metro area, located on the eastern side of downtown near the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. This facility offers passport acceptance services, processing new passport books and cards for applicants across Erie County who prefer the Main Office window to branch locations.
As with all USPS acceptance facilities, passport applications here are handled by appointment — walk-in processing is not guaranteed. Applicants should have their DS-11 form completed (but unsigned), original proof of U.S. citizenship, a current government-issued photo ID, and a passport-sized photo ready before arriving. The USPS collects a $35 acceptance fee at the window; State Department fees are paid separately by check or money order made out to the U.S. Department of State.
