📖 About this office

Run by Indiana University's Office of International Services, the IU Passport Acceptance Facility sits on the second floor of the Poplars Building at 400 E. Seventh St., a block from the Sample Gates. It opened to give students, faculty, and staff a campus-side place to apply — but the public is welcome too.

Staff accept first-time adult and minor applications, witness signatures, and take passport-style photos on site, which is handy if you are heading abroad for a study program or research trip. Both walk-ins and appointments are accepted during weekday hours.

Not affiliated with the university? You can still use this office, or choose the downtown counter instead — both are listed on the Bloomington passport page, part of the wider Indiana directory.

💡 Good to know

Expect a service fee in addition to the Department of State charges, plus a small fee for on-site photos. Metered street parking and the Indiana Memorial Union garage are nearby. Minors applying for a first passport must appear with the required parental consent. If campus hours don't fit your schedule, the Bloomington Main Post Office downtown is an alternative.
