Passport Acceptance Offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Pittsburgh spreads across the hills where the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers meet to form the Ohio, and its passport options are spread out much the same way. Downtown, in the Golden Triangle, two very different acceptance points sit within a few blocks of each other: the Allegheny County Department of Court Records inside the City-County Building on Grant Street, and the USPS Liberty Center Station just off Liberty Avenue near the Cultural District.

Which one suits you depends on your errand. If you are already Downtown for county business, the court-records window is convenient and is the county's own facility rather than a post office. If you would rather knock out the photo and the application in one stop, Liberty Center Station takes pictures on site. Families and residents on the eastern side of Allegheny County often find the Penn Hills Branch Post Office the least stressful choice, with easier parking than Grant Street and photos available there too.

Pittsburgh has no full U.S. passport agency of its own. The closest agencies are in Buffalo, New York, about 155 miles north, and in Washington, D.C., roughly 165 miles southeast, each about a two-and-a-half to three-hour drive; you only need one of those if you are traveling within days and have proof of imminent travel. For routine trips, one of the local acceptance offices below is all you need.

Every acceptance office here works by appointment, so book through the USPS scheduler or call the county window before you head over. First-time applicants and anyone under 16 must apply in person; a child's application needs both parents present or the proper consent form.
